For years now we have offered our political advice from this platform, but now is the time to put ourselves on the line.  We are driving to Lexington Kentucky where Allan Rivlin is taking the position of Campaign Manager for Elisabeth Jensen for Congress.  Why?  Because Elisabeth is a great candidate and this is a top potential Democratic House pick-up that also supports Alison Lundergan Grimes’ in her senate campaign to knock off Mitch McConnell.

Elisabeth Jensen is a Kentucky mom and we all know Kentucky moms get more done before noon than the GOP Congress gets done in a year.  Elisabeth was the first to jump on Mitch McConnell’s dis-Kynect (no Mitch, Kentucky cannot keep the popular Kynect healthcare marketplace if you repeal Obamacare) landing her national attention on MSNBC and linking her more closely to McConnell’s opponent, Alison Lundergan Grimes.  Elisabeth has been an executive at Disney and has founded two educational non-profits.  DCCC has named her campaign one of the “emerging races” and she is on Emily’s List.

We are in Kentucky because this is such a closely divided district.  This was the district that kept America waiting in 2010 for a recount that lasted weeks between Ben Chandler (D) and Garland Hale “Andy” Barr IV (R).  The Democrat prevailed by fewer than 700 votes but the challenger returned in 2012 and won the seat with 50.6% of the votes cast.  Like we said, this is a closely divided district!

Andy Barr is not particularly ideological but he has been voting the party line which means he voted for the Ryan Budget and the Sequester and he has been playing the Washington money game using his seat on the Financial Services Committee to block common sense reforms for Wall Street and the Payday Lending industry, taking home buckets of money to dump on Elisabeth.  But buckets of Wall Street money funding attack ads didn’t help Eric Cantor and Kentucky can do better than a low Barr.

Of course it would be Campaign Manager malpractice if this message did not come with an opportunity to support the race, especially right now days before the end of a reporting period (DEADLINE: June 30!) Give us some help if you can and you already know the campaign team will make anything you can send go far in a highly targeted race that is also leveraged to help deliver votes to beat the top impediment to progress in Washington, Mitch McConnell.
